NEW YORK –Jumping Jack Press, the pop-up book imprint from Up With Paper, unveiled its new Christmas pop-up book, Curious Cats’ Christmas, at the National Stationery Show today.
The nine-inch square book includes eight spreads, each featuring amazing pop-ups, fun illustrations, and eye-catching embellishments, as well as a creative story posing the many questions cats must have about the various Christmas traditions that humans take for granted. The book has a suggested retail price of $19.99, and is available as open stock or in a 10-book counter corrugate.
Curious Cats’ Christmas is the tenth title, and third Christmas book, from Jumping Jack Press, following up on the award-winning Christmas at the Zoo, first introduced in 2007, and the acclaimed Snowflakes title introduced last year. All three books are available in 2011.
Up With Paper’s pop-up Christmas cards featuring cats have historically been among the company’s best sellers, and the creative team, led by Vice President and Creative Director Monika Brandrup, developed this story to bring cats more fully to life in a pop-up book format.
“Cats would naturally think that milk left out for Santa is really for them, along with all the boxes and ribbons” said Brandrup. “Of course, they also think it strange that we hang long socks on our mantels, rather than keeping them on the floor where the cats can more easily play with them. That’s the mentality we tried to bring to the book, and the result is both silly and sweet—a wonderful combination for a pop-up book.”
